I am in your same situation..I have tried all my life to take good care of my teeth to no avail. My daughter has beautiful teeth, because as she grew up I put lots of money into her teeth. I also spent a lot on mine, but it didn't help. Now that I was forced into retirement and have to live on a monthly check, I can't afford to get anything done. Well, I did contact a dental college here in Nashville and they charge about a third of what a regular dentist charges. Maybe there is one in your area you can check into..I wish you lots of luck and if you get some help through our gov. I would sure like to hear about it. I even thought about contacting Ophrah Winfrey, she helps lots of people, but didn't have the nerve to do it...LOL..Good luck and God bless. Linda

No matter how much I brushed, flossed, and rinsed to care for my teeth, it didn't work. One by one, they began to disintegrate, chip, and eventually break off at the gumline. I don't have dental, and worse yet no health insurance what-so-ever. I haven't had insurance since my mother passed away 15 years ago. I just couldn't afford it. My children have Medicaid, my husband is disabled and has Medicare. So, here I am stuck with nothing because society and the government have percieved that since I stay home to care for my husband, blind brother, and children that I'm down right lazy and don't deserve it. Don't try telling me there are agencies out there that care and can help with my situation - the angencies that are out there haven't got time for me as I don't fit their criteria.

I don't like begging. It's beneath me, but that's what I had to do last year when i had an abcess. I went to bed fine and woke up with half my face swollen horrifically. it was ice packs and what not until i could get to the emergency room located on the other side of town - you see, they closed the local hospital that was nearest because too many patients without insurance were costing the hospital money...

I sat 15 hours in the emergency room while hysterical divas cried and carried on and were seen to by medical staff, even though I had arrived several hours earlier than they. I call them divas because they were still capable of prancing from place to place in stilleto heels, and texting on their cell phones. I had to sit in a waiting room with a swollen face and a temperature of 103 begging for ice packs and a doctor. I didn't get seen until the next shift. When the new floor nurse saw me, the site must have alarmed her greatly because it wasn't 10 to 15 minutes after she saw me that I was being examined. My brother was even treated worse than I. He had glaucoma and didn't know it. He woke up blind one day, and I rushed him to the hospital. This was the same place where I was treated so 'graciously'. He was refused treatment because he had insurance from work that covered eyeglasses - eye - glasses - not medical insurance. "If you have insurance, you can be seen by a private doctor. Next please..."

He's blind now because he was refused care. He worked all his life, he helped me raise my babies, he paid his taxes and Social Security, and this is what he gets... Yeah there's something desperately wrong.

Leave it to the words of Andrea Dworkin to put feminism in proper perspective. I rue that so much of liberal mainstream "feminism" seems to have lost that perspective; otherwise it might not have had to become so defensively oriented and focused on protecting reproductive rights. I have compared that to Alice in Wonderland having to run as fast as she could to stay in the same place. Not only has that drained feminism of much of its vitality, but slowly but surely, hard won ground has been lost.

That is an interesting article, but I would dispute a couple of important points. "Right now mammography is the best tool we have," and "We still can’t prevent breast cancer, because we don’t know what causes it." Since the article does not bother to mention any other tools, besides self-examination, it might seem that those are the only ways to detect breast cancer. Mammography may be the worst tool for detecting it, especially pre-menopause when it is almost useless, and can cause it. To say that we do not know what causes it is even more misleading. While it may be true that it is next to impossible to pinpoint the exact cause of any particular case of breast cancer, several potential causes are fairly well known, and more are highly suspicious. Honoring the precautionary principle would probably prevent most cancers of all varieties, but the Komen Foundation is notorious for ignoring these potential causes. They have conflicts of interest galore. I have to question, are they part of the solution, or part of the problem?

I have recently been the victim of some very crazy stuff. I went to a chilis restaurant several months ago to meet a friend and my friend cancelled on me. I was eating a really large appatizer made up of my 3 favorite things. I ate very little and decided that if there was anyone that the bartender thought would eat my food even though I ate off the plate, she could give it to them. There was a man sitting across the bar that took it and asked me if I wanted a drink. At first I refused but after a couple of drinks I decided to sit and talk to him. By the end of the night I opened up to him about all of my hopes and fears and problems. He listened intently to that and my dreams of opening a club one day.

We dated for a few weeks and then he took me one day to my favorite restaurant and told me that he want to open a club too and the only way I could be his partner and come up with my portion of the downpayment was to dance. I was angry about it but told him I would think about it anyway. He convinced me to quit my good job in insurance to start dancing full time and even doing a few things on the side for money. He told me that it was no different than me having "bootie calls" because then I am giving it up to someone that I don't care about for free. He also convinced me that all of this would happen in 2010 and that I would only be upset with the situation for a year to be happy the rest of my life.

I have to admit he painted a pretty picture of something very ugly. He also has investment properties and told me that he would give me a condo to stay in for free and it would take a little over a month to get ready and he wanted me to stay in his house in the meantime. I put in notice at work and decided to persue it. I had strong opinions of dancing before that and was sure that all of the woman that did that were whores.

One of the rules to our money making persuit was that I could not drink while working. While I understood the logic that went into that, it was very difficult to get naked in front of people I don't know without being under the influence of something. I lied to him about drinking while working until I was forced to admit it when I was attacked and raped about 5 weeks later.

The whole time he had me feeling like I was his woman, partner, lover, and friend. He kept talking to me like I was the most important thing in his life. After finding out that I was drinking, he told me he wanted to abor t the plan and I begged him not to. I didn't want him to think I was a failure so I told him I could control the drinking. I was fired from a lot of different clubs for conflicts with girls and other things and wasn't making much money.

After getting fired from several clubs, having several nights that I didn't make any money, and leaving a few clubs that sucked by choice, he decided it wasn't going to work. By then he convinced me that he had deep feelings and didn't want me to move out into the condo that he had because he wanted me to stay with him. When the final thing happened and it had been months of him supporting me and not bringing in enough cash, he told me that he wanted me to go ahead and move out into an apartment, not the condo he promised.

I had the money at the time to do it, but was very hurt because I thought that I was more than a paycheck to him. He played me like a guittar, me, a modest person who never believed in any of those things.

This man is a master manipulator. Woman need to be informed and beware of the warning signs. He also isolated me from friends and wouldn't let me talk to black men in the club because he was convinced that most of them are pimps.

Looking at all this in hindsight, if I had been better informed I would not have believed him. He was around my children and great with them and showed lots of signs of being a great person that was just a very motivated go getter. He has investment properties and business that are sound but decided to prey on me in my weekness. He convinced me that he loved me and wanted the best for me but that he loved me because of my strong drive and ambition to make our plan happen.

This sucked me in because then everytime something went wrong, I didn't want to admit it. Especially drinking at the club because I promised I wouldn't. This is his fault and to this day he tells me that not only was I raped but I didn't succeed because of the drinking and that I ruined what I had.

Unreal I didn't see it.

Of course, we should all remember that many cancer prevention screening programs have risks as well as benefits.
We hear the screening industry screaming about the success of these programs, but they don't tell us about the people who are harmed in the process - healthy people.
I simply do not trust the medical profession any more...
I would never accept their "word" about the need for any
preventative measure.

Cancer screening is supposed to be "offered" to women, but the reality is quite different - scare campaigns and bullying behaviour....overstatements and very little risk information.
GP's are paid financial incentives to get women into these programs - this is unethical and improper - it encourages bullying behaviour and deters the Dr from providing unbiased and complete information.

I was shocked when I did my own research into cervical and breast screening.
I believe women need answers to a few questions before they can make an informed decision.
It amazes me that Dr's don't seem to think consent or informed consent is necessary with cancer screening.
They accept the risk for us - are they prepared to accept responsibility if I'm harmed from a false positive and follow-up treatment - watch them run!

Ask a few question: How common is this cancer in an unscreened population?
What are the risk factors?
How reliable is the test, injection or exam?
What is the rate of false negatives and positives or side effects?
Can I be harmed by a false positive or false negative or side effect?

If your Dr can't or won't answer these questions, go elsewhere or preferably do your own reading.

I'm so grateful I did my own research and know the truth - scare campaigns don't bother me at all....I know exactly what they're doing and it won't work on me.
Become an informed patient and protect your health, mental and physical....
I can't comment about this vaccine, but given their past behaviour and attitudes, I can assure you I'd be doing my own careful research and asking lots of questions before I delivered up my precious child.
Sadly, it seems to be that most of this preventative stuff is about power, control and making enormous sums of money - these programs do help some people and harm thousands...
No Dr has the right to accept risk on behalf of his/her healthy patients.

My brother-in-law has very bad teeth and I have been looking for something for him but I have had no luck. He draws a disability check and his wife has been layed off. She hasn't been able to find a job the way everything is going these days. They have no insurance, no computer, and can bearly pay their bills. I don't know how many times he has been to the hospital with his teeth and getting I think blood poisoning because of the bad teeth. They will tell him he needs to find a dentist but everyone he talks to needs money up front and they don't have it. I don't understand how children can go to the dentist for free with Tenncare until they are 18 years old (I live in Tennessee). What about the adults, does anyone think about them and how their bad teeth can kill them. I will pray for everyone. God bless.

I just have a few comments on this subject:

first, Michelle Duggar is a woman who is obviously blessed with children and a nice home, etc. However, I think it is absolutely insane for her to keep popping out babies every other year!

The poor woman is a prime example of what happens when the husband has all of the say in a household! Has anyone ever thought about what would happen to all of these children if she , her husband, or the both of them died?? Her poor older girls would be instant "mommies" and they already have no life outside of that house! I think it's very unfair to the children that thay too will be forced to be barefoot and pregnant with no recognition of their goals, dreams, or talents whatsoever!

Also, the publicity of this makes me sick! Just wait....in another 12 months or so, the announcement of "Number 19" will bombard the TV stations again! JimBob, if you're reading this...PLEASE get your wife a new hair do for the occasion!!! After all.....you're "debt free"!!!
